What is my deal?
Increasingly I am finding that I really may not 'work well with others.' Doesn't that just take ya back to Elementary school? I believe my problem is working on too many committees where people don't DO anything. They're on a committee just to be on one, in name only. And they complain...a lot. I think that may be their entire reason for sitting on a committee - to b*t*h. Know anyone like this? I call them "Life-Suckers". They show up and SSSHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPP - suck the life right outtta ya.
Truly my issue is probably sitting on committees for too long - back to back terms. I have a year left on the one that is my present life-sucker issue - and I am not sure I can make it. If I do make it - it'll be with A TON of self-conversing prior to and post meetings. Is this why I got involved? Nope. Do I like it anymore? Heck no. If I pull out now will I be OK with that? No. And that's MY issue. I committed to 3 years. I said I would. Now I need to do it. Will I go insane? Probably. You will have to help H out when that happens. Notice I said when and not if. Will I P&M the whole year? Probably. And most specifically after each meeting.
So all of you out there on committees - for any reason what-so-ever. Evaluate what the heck you're doing there. If you aren't doing anything, then: step aside, get off the committee & let others get the work done without your b*t*hing.
Whew. I feel better. Think I can say this to my committee?
Nope.

And why can't you say it to the committee, you might have to pick better language to get the point across, but hey. What about the parable of the 10 lanterns? What about the story of the brother-in-law having to take care of his brother's wife because he died. What about the parable about slaves? Or heck, what about just saying you are indeed - disappointed in the actions of the other people that serve on the committees that suck the life out of you? Might relieve some stress!
Better language & word choice would be key... I'll have to ponder this one further as well as investigate options for member removal.
I've started the investigation with a few 'higher' committee members & we'll see what transpires... I'm not the only one & that makes me feel both a little better AND a little worse.
